The sitting was organized by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Sweden. In the sitting took part profile Parliamentary Committees of countries EU members and countries partners of "Eastern Partnership": Ukraine Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova.
The participants discussed the issues on the foundation of the Parliamentary Assembly EU-Eastern Neighbours Parliamentary Dimension of "Eastern Partnership."
Borys Tarasiuk, the Chairman of the Committee on European Integration declared that Ukraine positively evaluates the initiative of the "Eastern Partnership." Still, "eastern Partnership" should not be alternative of the future adjoining EU by Ukraine, moreover, it should provide the extra practical possibilities for this goal achieving.
According to B. Tarasiuk, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "perceives newly formed Assembly as extra format for the bilateral parliamentary connections in the framework of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation and is ready to participate in it." The Chairman of the Committee stressed that "with the help of these mechanisms the parliamentary control should be provided for the development of "Eastern Partnership"; should be increased the effectiveness of the parliamentary activity by the implementation of the new standards and EU practices etc."
B. Tarasiuk also stressed that the basic principle of Parliamentary Assembly EU-Eastern Neighbours and "Eastern Partnership" should be European identification of countries participants regarding that article 49 of the Agreement on EU should be implemented. The work of the Assembly should be built on the principles of differentiation, mutual property and responsibility.
Ukrainian part has also introduced its motions regarding the organizational structure of Assembly.
